The Primary Punchbowl Fall Blog Hop

Alright now - I have to tell you that I am so excited that I cannot contain myself! I have teamed up with a group of the.most.FABULOUS.ladies to bring to you a new collaborative blog, The Primary Punchbowl.  To kick off our new blog, we are hosting a wonderful blog hop to introduce ourselves.

During this most awesome time of the year, every classroom is busy learning and having fun.  I love learning about pumpkins during our literacy block, math block and science.  Pumpkin science can be so fun, even as they get a little older!  Our class reads lots of pumpkin books, fiction and nonfiction.  We estimate our pumpkin's weight and height, and guess how many pumpkin seeds we can collect. During pumpkin science, we like to get our hands dirty by digging right into our pumpkins. We even add soil right into the cavity of a pumpkin to see if we can grow a pumpkin sprout.  One lucky student eventually gets to take this pumpkin home to plant in their garden! The students love this time of year almost as much as I do.

To celebrate this new adventure, I created a fun, little pumpkin vocabulary assessment to share with you. Although my kiddos are only in second grade, I still like to assess what they are learning in science.  Click on the picture below to download.  I hope you enjoy!

Now, for the best part of our launch.  Each of the bloggers in the The Primary Punchbowl is hosting a TpT Gift Certificate giveaway!  Yep, is having their own giveaway.  That means you have 18 chances of winning prizes!  AND, best of all, if you visit The Primary Punchbowl blog, you can enter to win a pair of Kendra Scott earrings! 3. Digging into pumpkins with kids is always an adventure. I loved seeing who would actually touch it and who didn't want anything to do with the goop!

  4. Pumpkins is one of my favorite units too! It is so funny to see them ont he day we finally cut into them. They are a little timid at first to stick their hands in the goo, but by the time I say time is up and are elbow deep in pumpkin goo, it is so cute! Great vocabulary freebie!

  6. Chris, that freebie is perfect for us. One of this year's focuses is vocabulary. When using our pumpkins in the classroom, we incorporate many skills- but, SHOWING vocabulary is hard for five year olds. Thank you for such a fun and practical freebie!

    Happy Fall!
