Currently ~ August!

Can you even believe it is August?! I know we all know it's August but REALLY!? Where did the summer go??? UGH!!! So much to do, so little time, so much nice weather outside to enjoy....It is so hard to keep priorities in order this time of year.  Yes, I know I need to be getting my classroom ready BUT it is still summer! Right?! All things in moderation.

In the spirit of staying up late and sleeping in, I'm sitting here WAAYYY past my bedtime {is there such a thing in the summer?} to link up with Farley from Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for her August Currently linky.  The July Currently slipped right by me {probably because I only had Vegas on my brain} so I was determined to link up in August, albeit four days later:) Oh well.

Here it goes!

Listening ~ Well, seeing as everyone else in my house has been in bed sleeping for hours, I am enjoying some Peace and Quiet.  The calm before the storm so to speak.  13 days and counting until there will be NO peace and quiet for some time:)

Loving ~ My kiddos do not start until August 17th! I do have two days of in-service next week but then three days off until the kiddos arrive. I'm at a different building this year so I will probably be as nervous as the kids! We have Open House next week so maybe that will get some of the jitters out.

Thinking ~ Tomorrow I really do have to set an alarm - what?? - yes, unfortunately, my daughter has an early appointment at the orthodontist.  I am not sure what I was thinking, clearly I wasn't, when I made that appointment:) Oh well, may as well start with baby steps before those early alarms come along.

Wanting ~ T-Minus 8 days until my daughter moves off to college.  Oh my. I thought I was handling this really well until EVERYONE started asking how I was doing and will I be ok and will I cry.  Just. Stop. Now I will not be ok, I will cry and I don't know how I am doing any longer since everyone keeps bringing it up! Ha! I'll be sure to report back on how things go. Just as soon as the waterworks are turned off.

Needing ~ Seriously. In the past three months, we have had to replace all of our kitchen appliances, have some work done on our plumbing, we have two large water stains that still need to be repaired on our kitchen ceiling {due to the water issue}, and our water heater just went out causing a basement full of water! We built our home 15 years ago.  Everyone warned us that when everything is new at the same time, everything breaks at the same time.  I think our emergency funds are just about depleted so nothing else is allowed to break. OK? OK. Moving along...

B2S RAK ~ Like I mentioned before, I am moving to a different building in our district.  I already know my new teaching partners but am feeling like I am an outsider coming in. So, I am trying to think of some nice little goodies I can pass along so that I will ever.so.slowly. get into the groove with them.  They are very nice and I'm sure everything will be great but it still nerve-wracking for me starting over. Presents always help. Right?

Well, that wraps it up folks.  This time next month, I can assure you that I will most definitely not be writing this post at 2:05am on a Monday night/Tuesday mornign. The leisurely, lazy days of summer are almost over so I am going to enjoy them while I can!  Until next time!

  1. You sound so sweet. I am so glad I found your blog! I am also moving into a new district this year, and I feel like an outsider on my third grade team. What are ya thinking of putting in your goodie bags?
