Five for Friday!

Oh my! I feel like I've been MIA since school has been out! I have tried to my best to keep up with everything 'social' but just haven't found the time to sit down and blog.  But, I think my summer will start to become a little more normal after this week so I thought I would start it off on the right foot and join Kacey over at Doodle Bugs Teaching today.

Last week was spent cruising the Bahamas with my daughter.  This was her choice for her senior trip.  We stopped at the Cayman Islands and Jamaica.  We had wonderful adventures in both places.  We went on an underwater tour and visited the sea turtle farm on Grand Cayman while also making a stop in Hell, Cayman Islands.  We mailed a postcard home to my husband and daughter and it has yet to arrive.  Hmmm. While in Jamaica, we went zip lining in the rain forest, had a delicious lunch of jerk chicken and then walked up Dunn's River Waterfall.  We had two full days on the cruise ship to lay in the sun, read a book, relax, and enjoy the entertainment.

I wish I had pictures of us zip lining but I was too chicken to bring my phone along in fear that I would drop it.  I did have a waterproof camera along for the walk up Dunn's River Falls but I haven't had a chance to get those developed yet.  If you ever get a chance to go to Ochos Rios, I HIGHLY recommend walking up the waterfalls.  My husband and I did this on our honeymoon 20 years ago and I have never forgotten.  My daughter enjoyed it immensely as well!

So, instead of flying home on Saturday when our cruise ship pulled into port in Miami, we flew to Chicago instead to join the rest of our family who had been visiting more family in Chicago.  It was a whirlwind of a day but so fun to catch up with them, even though the game was a washout - not literally but it did have a looooong rain delay that we did not stick around to see the end of. It just so happened that the Chicago Blackhawks were still playing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs so the people who did stick around Wrigley Field were able to watch the hockey game on the jumbo tron.

Now, I bleed red, through and through.  And by red, I mean St. Louis Cardinals red so the fact that we left the game didn't bother me much because that just meant we were able to go somewhere else where we could all just sit and visit with family a little easier:)

On Monday when I was finally able to really get caught up on all things 'social media', this Tpt Sellers Challenge was just beginning to take IG, Facebook, TpT, and the blogging world by storm.  So, who got on the bandwagon, this girl!  Mind you, I am a baby in this game but I thought it would be fun to participate and get myself going again after my trip.  I really have very little in my TpT store so there isn't much of a choice to really makeover anything but I plan on revisiting my first unit, a contraction unit, tomorrow.  We'll see.  But for the record, here are my stats!  I have already noticed an increase in IG and Bloglovin' Yay!

So, I suppose I thought I would be so rested from my cruise that taking a graduate course all week would be a piece of cake, right?? Ugh! Talk about an exhausting week. I am so glad I finished the course though.  It was all about motivation.  It had some great activities, and great messages for our littles. I took a lot of notes so I would not forget anything when August finally rolls around.

And last but not least, we have been getting washed out here in Illinois (and the rest of the Midwest) literally.  Tropical Storm Bill has not only been dumping lots of water in the Gulf area but here as well.  We have had nothing but rain-filled days all week.  I suppose if I had to sit inside for a class all week, this was a good week to do so.  The weather channel says we are done with Bill as of today and we have nothing but sun and hot temps coming next week.  Just in time for my summer to really get started:)

You can't really see anything in the picture here but, trust me when I say, it is downpouring.  #sooverit #weneedsomesunalready

Well, that does it for now.  I am going to really focus on my family this coming week and getting my homelife back in order after being gone for the past 2 1/2 weeks.  Hopefully I get things in order just in time to pack up again for Vegas!  I cannot wait! Talk about motivation ~ that is my kind of motivation:)

Until next time!
