Liebster Award!

What a great feeling it was to read that I was nominated by Jenn at Take Me to 3rd Grade for the Liebster Award! What an honor and exciting time!

Well, here it goes!

Why and how long ago did you start blogging?

I just started this blogging journey in August of 2014.  I'm just a baby!  I am so inspired and motivated by so many of you that I just couldn't sit back on the sidelines any more.  I wanted in on the action!  I'm not sure if I will be anyone else's inspiration but I do know that I want to share my journey with everyone else.

What one word sums up the heart of your blog and why?

New Beginnings. I know this is not 'one word' but it means one thing.  For me, teaching is a second career.  I am not even going to go into my first career BUT I will tell you that teaching is what I was  meant to do.  There is not a day that I regret giving up the big corporate money to be a teacher. I love my job. I love being the one that helps shape our little kiddos into their future beings. The stress, the countless hours, the preparations, the evaluations...nothing would make me change my mind.

Is there something you learned late in your blogging journey that you wish you had known before?

Well, since I am so new to this journey, there hasn't been anything yet.  Now, if you talk to me a year from now, there probably will be. Stay tuned.

What is your favorite pasttime other than blogging?

I would have to say reading.  I belong to a local book club where I live and I just joined an online book club with some bloggers.  So excited!  Now, following my girls around with their activities consumes most of my time and I truly enjoy that too.  But, reading is what I do when I can do something for me.  Now, if I can be reading on the lake, on a beach, or by a poolside, that's just icing on the cake!

How many hours per week do you dedicate to your blog?

I'd have to say it depends on the week.  Lately, probably 2-3.  If I have extra time, I could spend hours.  This weekend, I've been on the couch battling some sinus stuff so I've had my laptop with me the whole time. On a normal week, probably only 1-2 hours.

What category of blog posts do you enjoy the most?

Without a doubt ~ teacher blogs!  However, I do follow a few cooking and DIY blogs as well:)

Where does your blog inspiration come from?

As far as what I blog about, right now the bulk of my blogs are linkys.  I'm beginning to feel more comfortable having a conversation with 'the computer' so I'm hoping to branch out more with my own topics.  The kiddos at school definitely give me more than enough 'material', ha!

Which post that you've written are you most proud of?

It would probably have to be the linky by Blog Hoppin over Thanksgiving week.

I am proud of myself on this one only because it forced me to log in every.day. to add my post. This was a challenge for me to see if I'm really cut out for this blogging world.  I did it!  Yes. I know I used the N template for K. Oh well. I tried:)

Is there any post that you've been planning to do but you've been postponing?

As a matter of fact, there is! I wanted to do a classroom reveal when I started this little 'ol blog but then we were told right before school started that our entire building would be getting painted, one room at a time. So, since I knew everything would have to come down at some point, I really didn't put too much 'fun' stuff or new stuff up.  Hopefully, when the painting is done at the end of this week, I get things put back up and then I can do a delayed Classroom reveal with the new look. We shall see...

What is your favorite aspect of blogging?

I love just being able to share.  No one may ever read what is shared but it somehow feels good just knowing that it's out there.  Sharing on a blog is so different than sharing with a teaching partner.  Sometimes I just want to write about something and not necessarily need any feedback.  This is the perfect platform! Love it!

Which recipe, project, or idea from my blog would you like to try yourself?

I would love to get my hands on as many writing ideas and resources as I can.  I can pretty much create or come up with things to teach almost every aspect of second grade but writing seems to stump me.  Writing was not my strong suit during my own school days and it hasn't seemed to change.  I will just keep trudging along!

I now nominate the following 11 bloggers for the Liebster Award!

Laura @ Year2Tastic
Erika @ My Crazy Life
Kristen @ Chalk and Apples
Stacie @ Smocus Smocus
Molly @ The Sassy Sub
Cassie @ My Educator Life

Now that you've been nominated, you must do the following to receive your award:

1. In your post, link back to me, the blogger who nominated you, as a thank you and a 'shout out.'.
2. Answer the 11 questions I answered above.
3. Nominate 11 bloggers that have less than 200 followers. You may give them 11 questions or they can answer the same questions you did.
4. Let your nominees know they've been nominated and provide them with a link back to your post so that they can accept.
5. Send your nominator a link to your post so (s)he can learn more about you as well. (You can just put your post link in the comments below.)
